Getting There
By Air
Cameroon has its own international carrier that connects Yaounde and Douala with the capital cities of all neighbouring countries. France, Gabon, Switzerland, Britain and Australia have direct flights to Cameroon. The most frequent connection is from France to Douala Airport (DLA).
Douala Airport is 10km from the city centre. Taxis ply from the airport to the city. Yaounde Airport is 25km from the city and taxis will get you to the main area of the city.
By Road
Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic, Gabon and Nigeria have road routes to Cameroon. The roads are not in a very good condition so the ride is rough. 4WD vehicles are recommended but the rainy season should be avoided altogether. Mini buses and bush taxis connect neighbouring countries to Yaounde and Douala.
By Train
At the time of writing, Central African Republic is building its rail network to connect its capital city, Bangui, to Yaounde.
By Sea
Cargo ships travel between Douala and Malabo (Equatorial Guinea) and may give you a ticket to travel to Cameroon. The services are not regulated and basic amenities may be lacking.
