People & Society

High density of population is a feature of Burkina Faso. Mosi, Bobo, Gourma and Fulani are the four important ethnic groups out of an estimated 60. Most of Burkina Faso's people live below the poverty line but that doesn't dampen the friendly and happy nature of its people. Many French customs prevail within the urban areas. When working or relaxing the urban population wears casual clothing and lounge suits. Outside the cities, little has changed for centuries.

It will only be a courtesy to respect local customs and traditions.
