Airport
The 15 km drive from the city to Bamako International Airport can be covered in about twenty minutes. A bus service is operated to the city from the airport. Departure tax is approximately CFAfr 8 000 for destinations within Africa and CFAfr 10 000 for other destinations.

Duty Free Allowance: 1000 cigarettes or 250 cigars, a reasonable quantity of perfume (opened) and a reasonable quantity of alcoholic beverage.

Internal flights
Air Mali also operates a few domestic flights. Light aircraft can be chartered from STA (Societe des Transports Aeriens)
Flights are not dependable, with delays and last minute cancellations occurring regularly.

Bamako (pop. 646,163), is in South West Mali, on the Niger River. It is the nation’s administrative centre, as well as a river port, a junction on the Dakar-Niger railway and a major regional trade centre. Manufactures include textiles, processed meat, and metal goods. Bamako ships shea-nut oil, kapok, cotton, and peanuts.
